Palette Studies

Palette play is one of my favorite activities. Constructing a narrative through form, material and color is a delightful process. Within the space of these considerations is a unique sense of joy.

Each line of material is hand tinted using various methods to create delicate tones.

These tonal phrases play with harmony in order to push its limits. A sense of color accordance is created in order to tease it with possible discordance, complicating the sense of harmony by encompassing off notes.

These objects are an end to themselves, and also serve as palette studies for larger objects.
